Adventures in Conceptualism

Adventures in Conceptualism explores the method of concept-based architecture through a series of conversations between the editor Kristoffer Lindhardt Weiss and some of the world’s leading architects and urbanists, including Aaron Betsky, Bjarke Ingels, Dan Stubbergaard, Farshid Moussavi, François Blanciak, Kamiel Klaasse, Kim Herforth Nielsen, Kjetil Trædal Thorsen and Peer Teglgaard Jeppesen. The book also includes an essay on conceptualism by Boris Brorman Jensen.

From offices such as Snøhetta, BIG, NL Architects and Danish HLA, the production of formal diversity shows an apparent devotion to a free and experimental practice, cutting across regional differences and stylistic modes. Every new project seems to conceptually reinvent the architectural language, responding to specific programmatic and contextual conditions.

Kristofer Linhardt Weiss curated the Danish Pavilion at the 2016 Venice Biennale of Architecture together with Boris Brorman Jensen. He is a lecturer at the Royal Danish Academy, School of Architecture, the former architecture editor at the Danish newspaper Dagbladet Information and contributor to numerous books and magazines on the intersection between urbanism, architecture, social sciences and philosophy.
