Marianne Bernadotte – Style Icon & Philantrophist: Opening

Yesterday, there was a pre-opening and book launch of

Marianne Bernadotte – A Style Icon at Millesgården. Sweden’s Crown Princess Victoria inaugurated the exhibition and received the first copy of the new book Marianne Bernadotte – Style Icon & Philanthropist.

Marianne Bernadotte (b. 1924), actress, honorary doctor, philanthropist and widow of the graphic designer Sigvard Bernadotte, came over the years to wear many garments from some of the most prominent fashion houses – for example, Chanel, Balmain and Dior.

The Bernadottes were personal friends of the fashion creator Pierre Balmain, a friendship that earned her a wardrobe full of garments from the fashion house Balmain. Starting from some of Marianne Bernadotte’s garments from the past 50 years, we display these fashion creations along with Carl Milles’ work at Millesgårdens artist home on the upper terrace.

Today, we photographed a number of these garments on dolls in the studio, the library, the breakfast room and the park for the beautiful book Marianne Bernadotte – Style Icon & Philanthropist.

The exhibition will run from 17 March through 11 June 2017.

Marianne Bernadotte – En stilikon på Millesgården. Kronprinsessan Victoria invigde utställningen och fick det första exemplaret av den nya boken Marianne Bernadotte – Stilikon & Philantropist.

Marianne Bernadotte (f. 1924), skådespelare, hedersdoktor och filantrop samt änka efter formgivaren Sigvard Bernadotte, har genom åren kommit att bära många plagg från några av de största franska modehusen – till exempel Chanel, Balmain och Dior.

Paret Bernadotte var personliga vänner till modeskaparen Pierre Balmain vilket möjliggjorde en garderob med ett stort antal plagg från just modehuset Balmain. Med utgångspunkt från några av Marianne Bernadottes plagg från de senaste 50 åren visar vi dessa modekreationer tillsammans med Carl Milles verk i Millesgårdens konstnärshem på den övre terrassen.

Utställningen visas mellan 17 mars – 11 juni 2017
