Book release! Friday November 24, 5.30pm–8pm
Vattenverksvägen 19, Malmö

Everyday art has no clear or specific task. It does not have to be more or less provocative, thought provoking or easy to understand than any other type of art. But it must consciously relate to the space it occupies and take a position on how it meets its audience.

Since 2012, the architects Edvin Bylander and Joel Persson have been working on shaping and implementing public art in collaboration with various artists. In Offentligt konstarbete – Fallstudier i konst & arkitektur, they share their and others’ experiences of the processes behind the art. The book is intended for those who work with art in public space – artists, architects, project managers, decision-makers, blacksmiths, builders or fitters – and for those who encounter art in their everyday life.

By putting art in an architectural and spatial perspective, the book provides an important and innovative contribution to the always-live discussion on the role of art in public space.
– Mattias Kärrholm, Professor of Architectural Theory at Lund University
